Friends daughter knocked the side view mirror off his door. He’s jumping on the road on Monday (regional sales) and needs a temporary fix. Epoxy recommendations?

Loctite makes a decent plastic epoxy. You’d have to remove the mirror and where it mounts though because it takes a while to cure. I used like half a roll of electrical tape on my zx2 mirror when a friend broke it off once. That actually worked pretty well. Won’t look good though.

I’ve had good luck with this stuff. comes in a mini packet so your whole tube doesn’t go bad.

I’m a fan of Devcon Plastic Welder. It’s about $7-8 for a 25ml container, and I’ve seen it available in three different colors (clear, white, and black). Don’t have it in front of me, but I want to say that the set time is only about 5 minutes, and it cures fully within 24 hours.

I’ve used it to fix cracks on my irrigation lines, it’s rated to something like 3000psi or some other crazy high number.

Mirror housings are usually ABS plastic so it’s generally resistant to many epoxy adhesives. JB plasticweld may work well. It works better if you scuff it with sandpaper first though.

I would second taking the mirror off, just to know where the expoxy is/isn’t dripping.

Agreed. Also for the purpose of cleaning and scuffing any surface that will be epoxied to make it hold as well as possible.

Assuming that the only material available for gluing is the broken edge, I would Definitely look for some look for some welder product.

Rookies, you’re all wrong:  https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Auto-Glass-Urethane-Windshield-Adhesive/?N=5002385+3293242009&rt=rud

This is what you need, do an isopropyl alcohol wipe first and you’re good.

Napa should have this or equivalent in stock on shelf.
